Hello! My name is Yanelys which is pronounced "Ja-nel-is", I know it is very different, haha!

Thank you for coming to my website! I am the face behind Y's Creations. This is space for me to put together all the aspects of my business in one easy place to find. Each service can be chosen on their own or in any combination!

I am an Independent Stylist in Maple Ridge, BC. I have a home-based studio for all of your hair need!

How I got into hair... I have loved hair for as long as I can remember! Growing up I did well in school and sciences so that's what I thought I should do with my life. I received the President's Entrance Award at Douglas College for the Bachelor's of Science in Nursing Program. This was a full ride scholarship, but after the first year I decided Nursing wasn't for me. I then took a year off and worked in the Pharmacy field. During that year, I decided I to pursue Pharmacy so I enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program at MTI Community College. After graduating, I worked very hard to get regulated Provincially and Federally. Once I was regulated, I continued working in Pharmacy. After 5 years of working in the Pharmacy world, and now being married to my amazing husband, he helped me rediscover the creativity within me. And that is how Y's Creations were born!

I then made one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, I quit my job and enrolled in the Hair Art Design Program at John Casablancas Institute in Gastown, Vancouver! It was such an incredible chapter of my life! I graduated in January of 2019 and have loved doing hair since.

Like hair, I have always loved taking pictures. My husband works in the Film Industry as a Visual Effects Artist and had his own photography and video company in the past. When we first got married he gifted me his first camera and taught me everything I know. Since then I have photographed newborns, weddings, maternity shoots, headshots, lifestyle shoots, events and product shots. I would love to a part of capturing memories for you and your family as well!

This is where I sell my custom pieces combining watercolour and hand-lettering calligraphy. I add a custom piece to each lifestyle and wedding photoshoot as a memory of the day for the client. I also offer other products including prints and colouring sheets.
